Thanks, Diners

Wow! My fundraising night on Monday was attended by 29 of you. Thank you so much for giving time from your busy schedules to enjoy a restaurant meal (thanks, Chevy's in Laguna!) that benefited the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Twenty-five percent of your dinner proceeds will be donated by Chevy's to the LLS Greater Sacramento Chapter. I am proud to know you, and to know that you are joining in the fight for a cure.

Here is a sampling of some of the ways the LLS uses your contributions:

•Invests in blood cancer research ($64.7 million in 2007!)

•Provides critical support for patients and their families (support groups, education, advanced training for health care professionals)

•Advocates for issues affecting blood cancer patients.

Why is this so important?

« Every 5 minutes, an American is diagnosed with leukemia, lymphoma or myeloma.

« Every 10 minutes, someone dies from blood cancer—about 52,000 people in 2007.

« An estimated 823,349 Americans have blood cancer.

« Approximately 135,520 Americans will be diagnosed with blood cancers next year.

If you are checking out my site for the first time, please consider giving a donation. No matter what size gift, it will go to an exemplary nonprofit organization. You can give online by clicking on the link at the left, or by mailing a check:

Your thoughts, your prayers and a bit of financial support will all go a long way toward helping patients and families.
